LAKE COATEPEQUE

Coatepeque Lake, located in the department of Santa Ana volcano in the same name, an hour and a half from the capital. It has an area of 24.8 km2 and its altitude is 740 meters. Its basin is closed and has an area of 70.25 km2, in the form of an inverted truncated cone. This body of water has the particular feature of having no surface drainage, and its maximum depth is 115 meters and the walls that surround it have heights ranging between 250 and 300 meters.
Coatepeque Lake was formed by the collapse of the tops of a group of volcanic cones a few thousand years ago. Currently the lake is a beautiful natural paradise and a great place for fishing in its various facets, as well as other water sports.
Guapote fishing, diving, jet skiing and water bikes or ride in motor boats are golden opportunities to have fun.
