GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES
The topography is extremely steep and rugged, with many cliffs. With elevations ranging from 250 meters above sea level in San Francisco Menéndez, to 1.425 meters on Cerro Campana.
Eight rivers originate in the park, the most important are the Guayapa, Cara Sucia and San Francisco. The smaller rivers are the Ahuachapio, the Ixcanal, the Maishtapula and Mixtepe. The rivers flow south about 15 km to the Barra de Santiago, another natural area of great economic and ecological imports to El Salvador.
